On 25 November 2023, Smart Agro Hub presented the EXCEL4MED project during the renowned “Patras Innovation Quest – Competence Centres: Catalyst for the Development and Exploitation of Innovation” event in Patras (Greece).
Patras IQ is a collaborative initiative involving two Greek Ministries, the Regional Authority of Western Greece, the Achaia Chamber of Commerce, and three universities (University of Patras, Technological Educational Institute of Western Greece, and Hellenic Open University).
EXCEL4MED’s contribution to Patras IQ
Representing Smart Agro Hub, Dr. Thomas Bartzanas—President of the Board of Directors and Vice-Rector of the Agricultural University of Athens—delivered a dynamic presentation, highlighting both the Hub’s cutting-edge services and the ongoing work of the EXCEL4MED project, and emphasising our project’s vital role in promoting sustainability and innovation in the agri-food sector.
Dr. Bartzanas’ presentation focused on EXCEL4MED’s mission to foster resilience and innovation in Mediterranean fruit supply chains, by combining waste valorisation, green food processing technologies and a quadruple helix approach that engages stakeholders from academia, industry, government and civil society.
EXCEL4MED’s presence at Patras IQ highlighted the importance of bridging research with market needs—a central theme of the event.
