The Mediterranean region has long been recognized as a hub for agricultural activity. With nearly a quarter of the region’s workforce employed in this sector, agriculture has shown a promising growth in recent years.

The EXCEL4MED project, funded by the EU, seeks to bolster innovation ecosystems within the Mediterranean. This entails a focus on the production of nutritious food products and the valorization of food industrial side-streams. The project has set its sights on building cross-border collaborations between Greece, Malta and France, with a common goal of reinforcing the region’s food added-value chains.
