Fresh, local and sustainable: EXCEL4MED engages with farmers at Ta’ Qali Market

EXCEL4MED

On a vibrant Saturday at the Ta’ Qali Farmers Market, our partners from The Malta Chamber shared EXCEL4MED’s mission to promote nutritious food products and the valorisation of food industrial side-streams.

It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with the local community and highlight the importance of sustainable agriculture and food innovation.

A unique marketplace for fresh local produce

The Ta’ Qali Farmers Market offers a unique experience for both consumers and farmers. This market brings together around 30 stalls featuring Maltese-grown produce. Visitors can find fresh fruits and vegetables, along with locally made goods such as Bigilla, Gbejniet, honey, bread and fish and meat products.

What makes this market even more special is its focus on local and sustainable food production, which aligns perfectly with EXCEL4MED’s vision for creating a resilient and sustainable Mediterranean food system.

This was a wonderful occasion to engage with the public and share ideas into how EXCEL4MED is working to enhance food resilience through innovative agricultural practices and the valorisation of food side-streams!

A special thank you goes out to the local farmers who provided fresh, local oranges and pomegranates, offering visitors a true taste of Malta’s agricultural bounty. We are also grateful to The Malta Chamber for their valuable participation in the event.
