Our partner Smart Agro Hub presented the EXCEL4MED project at the info-day titled “Funding, Networking and Technology Transfer Opportunities for Mature Research Groups of the Agricultural University”, held at the Agricultural University of Athens (AUA) on 13 February 2023.
Organised by the National Documentation Centre in collaboration with the Agricultural University of Athens, the event aimed to bridge the gap between research and industry, connecting agricultural researchers with funding opportunities and technology transfer initiatives.
EXCEL4MED: fostering Innovation in Mediterranean agri-food systems
Thanos Karvounis, Innovation Grant Application Expert at Smart Agro Hub, introduced EXCEL4MED’s mission to create a resilient and sustainable Mediterranean fruit supply chain. He highlighted the project’s focus on:
- Green innovations for reducing food waste and valorising agricultural by-products.
- Collaboration opportunities through EXCEL4MED’s living labs and stakeholder engagement.
- Synergies with funding and research initiatives, ensuring impactful knowledge transfer.
The event also featured insightful presentations on funding strategies, networking prospects and the latest developments in agri-tech innovation, reinforcing the importance of cross-sector collaboration.
During this info-day, EXCEL4MED strengthened its ties with research institutions and industry leaders, paving the way for future partnerships that drive sustainable agri-food innovation.
