From 17-19 March 2023, EXCEL4MED was presented at the 5th VERDE.TEC FORUM, held at the M.E.C. Exhibition Center in Paiania (Athens)—one of the leading international events dedicated to environmental technology and sustainability.

Representing Smart Agro Hub, Thanos Karvounis, Innovation Grant Application Expert, delivered a compelling presentation on “The Contribution of the Smart Agro Hub Competence Center to the Digital Transition of Greek Agriculture”.

Smart Agro Hub underscored the pivotal role of EXCEL4MED in fostering innovation, digital transformation and sustainability within Mediterranean food value chains.

Spotlight on smart agriculture and green innovation

As part of the “21st Century Agriculture in Greece: Precision Agriculture, Digitisation & Green Sustainability” panel, organised by the Agricultural University of Athens, EXCEL4MED’s contributions were highlighted in discussions on:

• Smart farming solutions that enhance efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
• Sustainable food systems leveraging green technologies and circular economy models.
• Digital transformation in agriculture, accelerating innovation and resilience.

Since its launch in 2017, the VERDE.TEC FORUM has become a premier platform for sustainability leaders, researchers and policymakers. This year’s edition featured 220+ expert speakers, 32 workshops and panels, and global networking opportunities with institutions, universities and businesses.
