From 2-6 April 2025, the Zappeion Courtyard in the heart of Athens transformed into a vibrant hub of flavours, innovation and sustainability during the fourth edition of the SuperFoods Festival!
With more than 60 producers from across Greece showcasing nutrient-rich products, the event was a celebration of healthy living, and EXCEL4MED was right there thanks to the participation of our Greek partners from EKPIZO.
Promoting sustainability through dialogue
Set in one of the city’s most historic and central locations, the festival drew a broad audience of health-conscious consumers, food enthusiasts and professionals from the retail and hospitality sectors.
Visitors had the opportunity to discover innovative superfoods, connect directly with local producers, and taste award-winning products recognised for their quality, innovation and nutritional value.
Against this lively and engaging backdrop, our partner EKPIZO hosted a dedicated space where they introduced consumers to EXCEL4MED’s mission: transforming food systems in the Mediterranean through sustainability, circularity and collaboration.
The conversations that emerged reflected growing consumer interest in reducing food waste and creating value from food by-products.
A meeting point for food innovation and conscious consumption
The SuperFoods Festival offered a unique setting to bridge the gap between science and everyday life. Our team highlighted how EXCEL4MED is working to promote more sustainable Mediterranean fruit supply chains, including the development of novel products, waste valorisation strategies, and technologies designed to make our food systems more resilient and resource-efficient. This kind of face-to-face dialogue is central to the EXCEL4MED approach.
Connecting directly with end-users not only helps raise awareness, but also offers valuable insights into consumer preferences and expectations, which are vital elements for the project’s Living Labs and research activities.
EXCEL4MED was proud to be part of this dynamic initiative and to engage with the public in such an inspiring setting.
Our thanks go to EKPIZO for representing the project and helping to bring our vision for sustainable food systems directly to the people who matter most: consumers!
